A THING OF BEAUTY: DECORATIVE ACCESSORIES FROM BLUE CARREON

Using sumptuous materials and inspired by nature, Manillla-based designer Blue Carreon's decorative home accessories are lavish and lush.  I recently got to see his latest collection in its entirety at the NY Now gift show. Utilizing luxe finishes, this fashion editor turned interior designer creates pieces are made from gleaming brass, inlaid shell, faux shagreen and stone. Capturing everything from whimsical fluttering butterfly wings to streamlined obelisks, he brings the fancy back to decorative objects with a nod to 1950's and 70's style.  Here are some of my favorite pieces designed by someone with enormous style for those who have it.

This gilded brass palm tree sculpture has a real presence standing 26 inches high. The articulated leaves add to the beauty of this tropical tree.

Using inlaid shell to form contrasting stripes, these triangle shaped Linea boxes add a graphic geometric element

I adore the material mix of faux shagreen and wrapped rattan on the quatrefoil Island tray

A beautiful surface on the Maison Bijoux trays includes mother of pearl or shell surrounded by brass and tumbled semi-precious stones in vibrant colors

Corral pens and pencils in the Halston-sleek Maison Bijoux pencil cup

On the table or on the wall, Mariposa butterfly objects are available in all brass or with shell inlay

Ants aren't really my thing, but some people love them.

Keep books in order with shell and faux shagreen bookends with a shape that resemble Art Deco period fixtures

In a graphic black and white moment, a playful table sculpture of interlocking quatrefoils made of stone

This is the gift for the hostess who has everything. A magnetized seating chart covered in lavender faux shagreen makes arranging guests easier.

For a bit of height, it's hard not to love a classic Hicks-ian obelisk
